Calling all wannabe fashion interns: Donatella Versace puts work experience under the hammer.
Anything Anna can do, Donatella can do better. It seems like auctioning off work experience within the fashion industry all in the name of charity is quite the thing to do at the moment. Trumping Anna Wintour’s offer of a week’s work experience at American Vogue, Donatella Versace is putting a whole academic term-long internship at the Versace offices in New York up for grabs.
The winning bidder will hop on a plane along with a friend and head for Milan to watch the next Versus show (Versace’s little sister label, which is designed by British hot shot Christopher Kane), during fashion week and get the chance to meet Donatella backstage. If that wasn’t enough, they will also receive a Versus T-shirt and a bottle of the brand’s signature perfume, both signed by Donatella.
If you want to kick start your career in fashion you have until the 13 May to place your bid through charitybuzz.com in aid of The Art Of Elysium - a charity that helps children with serious medical conditions.
Just so you know, the weeklong work experience stint with Anna Wintour at American Vogue is still available with 17 bids already been placed. The current bid stands at £9,213 with just two days to go before the auction, in aid of The RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights, ends.
We wonder whether any British-based designers and magazine editors will follow suit? Watch this space.
